I started painting a few years ago.  To be honest, I started because I had just moved to Korea and it was cold and I was bored.  At first look the blank canvas reminded me of my old home in Hawaii.  Not sure but I think it was because it was freezing outside and back home one could go out anytime.

Looking out at the snow, I fondly tried to capture the image of coconut trees, ocean and islands. For some reason I painted the sun and moon and made it a night scene.  When I was finished, the white sides of the canvas stood out so I painted them black – hence the name black edge art.

I started to look at others paintings and noticed most of them were of daytime or bright indoor themes.  Not many paintings are done of night time images.  So I started painting all the great places I’ve been as I remembered them at night.  Some from various images some from my imagination.
